This painting explores the relationship between a father and son, and the quiet strength found within that bond. It reflects the importance of a father figure, someone who guides, protects, teaches, and carries responsibility so the child can feel safe.

The trust between them is shown through the body language of the child resting on his father’s shoulders. The son does not need to carry his own weight or worry about the journey ahead because the father carries him. There is comfort in knowing he is supported, led, and protected.

The piece also reflects my understanding of God as our Father. In the same way the child rests on his father’s shoulders, we are called to rest in God, trusting His guidance rather than trying to carry every burden ourselves.
